Message from the Dean of Students

As the Dean of Students at Kisiwa Technical Training Institute, I am dedicated to providing strategic vision, leadership, and management of student welfare in collaboration with the students’ council, staff, and the institute’s top management. My office includes two Deputy Deans and an Office Administrator, with whom I work closely to achieve our departmental objectives.

We are committed to fostering education, advocacy, and support to encourage and empower all students to succeed in their academic, social, and personal development. The Dean of Students (DOS) office supports student learning and personal growth by enforcing the student code of conduct and promoting ethical, civil, and responsible behavior. Our department collaborates with other departments, staff, and student leaders to enhance the overall student experience, making Kisiwa a student-centered institute and a home away from home. Student activities are primarily conducted through student clubs and societies, which aim to nurture individual talents, and provide exposure and networking opportunities with other institutions and organizations.

STEPHEN KEMBOI KIPTUM – DEAN OF STUDENTS

Currently, there are eight registered clubs and societies, each led by respective patrons under the Dean’s office. For student support, especially for those in need, we encourage sourcing funds for school fees from various available sources, both within and outside the college. These sources include Parents, Higher Education Loans Board (H.E.L.B), Self, Constituency Development Funds (CDF), Government Bursaries, Well-wishers, and other scholarships like the KCB 2jiajiri program, among others. We ensure effective communication with students to initiate the application process at scheduled times.

Our department comprises several sections: Guidance and Counseling, Games, Sports and Recreation, Students Accommodation, and Students Catering. The activities of the Kisiwa Technical Training Institute Student Union (KISTTISU) are also coordinated through our department. Our key functions are based on the activities of these sections, including:

  • Enforcing college rules and regulations among students.
  • Processing student loan forms, leave of absence, and letters of introduction.
  • Registration of clubs and associations.
  • Processing welfare disciplinary cases.
  • Managing student elections.
  • Organizing student entertainment, including cultural and talent days.

We are committed to enhancing the quality of life and learning for our students, ensuring a supportive and enriching environment throughout their time at Kisiwa Technical Training Institute.
